The United States on Wednesday (January 31, 2024) stated its forces struck and destroyed a Houthi surface-to-air missile that posed an imminent threat to US plane.

“Jan. 31 at roughly 3:30 p.m. (Sanaa time), USCENTCOM forces struck and destroyed a Houthi surface-to-air missile ready to launch,” US CENTCOM stated in an announcement.

“U.S. forces recognized the missile in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and decided that it introduced an imminent threat to U.S. plane,” the assertion stated.

The US stated one other anti-ship ballistic missile shot from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen was additionally destroyed.

“On Jan. 31, at roughly 8:30 p.m. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired one anti-ship ballistic missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen towards the Gulf of Aden. The missile was efficiently shot down by the USS Carney (DDG 64). At 9:10 p.m, the CENTCOM launched assertion stated.

“The USS Carney engaged and shot down three Iranian UAVs in its neighborhood,” the assertion stated.

No harm or harm was induced due to the assaults.
