The US Central Command on Thursday (January 18, 2024) mentioned Houthi launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles at an American-owned tanker ship in the Red Sea.

No injury was induced as a result of assault.

“On Jan. 18 at roughly 9 p.m. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles at M/V Chem Ranger, a Marshall Island-flagged, U.S.-Owned, Greek-operated tanker ship,” the US Central Command posted on X.

The crew of the vessel noticed the missiles influence the water close to the ship.  

“There had been no reported accidents or injury to the ship. The ship has continued underway,” learn the submit on X.

The latest assaults in opposition to vessels in and round Red Sea by Houthi led to strikes by the UK and the UK on Yemen.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan earlier described the assaults on Red Sea as acts of ‘terrorism’.

The US just lately designated Houthis as ‘Global Terrorist’ group.

On January 17, Jake Sullivan mentioned in an announcement: “Over the previous months, Yemen-based Houthi militants have engaged in unprecedented assaults in opposition to United States navy forces and worldwide maritime vessels working in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. These assaults match the textbook definition of terrorism.”

“They have endangered U.S. personnel, civilian mariners, and our companions, jeopardized world commerce, and threatened freedom of navigation. The United States and the worldwide neighborhood have been united in our response and in condemning these assaults in the strongest phrases,” he mentioned.

He mentioned: ” Today, in response to those persevering with threats and assaults, the United States introduced the designation of Ansarallah, also called the Houthis, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist.”
